A leather coffee table can be a sleek, modern piece or a rescued antique. Regardless of its style, it's an elegant piece that adds a touch of class and distinction to your interior. However, it does give you the burden of protecting the leather from sharp book corners, soggy drinks and other stain- and scratch-producing items. Instead of commanding everyone in your household never to use or touch your leather coffee table, covering it with a clear vinyl homemade slipcover allows you to both use and protect the aesthetic value of your table. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
- 1
Measure the length of the coffee table. Write down your total figure for the length. Measure the width of the coffee table. Write down your total figure for the width.
2Dust off the surface of the coffee table, freeing it from miscellaneous debris. Cut a piece of clear vinyl in the exact dimensions that you wrote down. Lay it on the exact center of the leather coffee table. Fold the vinyl around each side of the coffee table, as if you were wrapping a package.
3Pin down each fold that you've created with an adequate amount of pins, spacing the pins out every 3 inches along each fold. Adjust the vinyl if necessary. Remove each pin, one by one, replacing it with a dot of hot glue.
4Press the folds, establishing a strong bond with the hot glue, for at least 5 minutes.
