How to Decorate a Kitchen Console

A kitchen console is a small freestanding table that provides extra space. Some kitchen consoles consist of drawers and cabinets used for storage. Don't leave the console bleak and empty, but make use of the extra space by placing decorative items on it. Decorate the table with items that reflect the current kitchen decor and color design. Clear off all storage from the kitchen console. If the table consists of cabinets or drawers, organize them and store as many items as will fit comfortably.

Fill a clean vase with fresh water. Cut fresh flowers or buy flowers that match the colors used in your decor. Put the flowers in the vase. Set the vase in the center of the console table.

Adorn the table with a decorative, reflective tray and candles. Set the tray on the console table. Set a large pillar candle in the center of the tray. Surround the pillar candle with votive candles, all of the same scent, in small votive holders. Light the candles for a flickering display.

Decorate the console with edible sweets. Fill a pedestal cake stand with small edibles, such as fudge or cupcakes. Set the cake stand in the center of the console. Fill two small bowls with candies and set them on either side of the cake stand.

Fill a decorative bowl that complements your current decor with fresh fruit. Set the bowl in the center of the table.

Cover the console table with a decorative tablecloth to dress it up. Fill a crystal pedestal bowl with clean water. Float flowers on the water. Set the bowl in the center of the console table. Push two matching pillar candles into crystal candle holders. Set a candle on either side of the bowl.

Create a small display of your favorite kitchen collectibles on the table. If the kitchen is decorated with roosters, for example, set one ceramic rooster in the center of the table with a smaller ceramic rooster on either side.
