How to Get Rid of Water Stains on Wood Finish

How to Get Rid of Water Stains on Wood Finish

Wood furniture, whether it is an antique side table or a modern coffee table, adds beauty and warmth to any home. It doesn't matter if the piece is expensive and ornate or a yard sale treasure, an unsightly ring will form if a dripping drinking glass is set on top. Removing these water marks is accomplished with items found inside the kitchen pantry. Once removed, protect your wood pieces by putting out a few coasters, and encouraging everyone to use them. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    1

Squeeze approximately 2 tbsp. toothpaste, not gel, into a small bowl.

    2

Add 2 tbsp. baking soda to the bowl and mix the two ingredients.

    3

Dip a cotton swab into the baking soda and toothpaste concoction.

    4

Rub the water mark with the cotton swab. Using pressure and small overlapping circles, continue to rub until the mark is completely gone.

    5

Wipe off the toothpaste mixture with a damp cloth and polish the furniture as you normally would.
