Inversion Table Facts

Inversion tables are devices that are designed to stretch out the spine and relieve back pain by suspending a user by the feet and using gravity to stretch out their spine.

Types

There are a variety of inversion tables available. Some are motorized and these tend to be easier to use but more expensive. Many are manually configured and these, while cheaper, can take some training or practice to use correctly. Inversion tables also come with a variety of ways to secure the ankles.

Reliving Pressure

The main use of inversion tables is to relieve pressure on the spine. Inversion table manufacturers claim that stretching out the spine through the use of an inversion table allows tissue to recover moisture lost due to tension and strain.

Improving Flexibility

Proponents of inversion therapy claim that using inversion tables can increase the body's flexibility. Using an inversion table you can preform stretches that are impossible standing up.

Improving Blood Flow

Supporters of inversion tables claim that inversion can improve blood flow. This idea is considered to be especially true for the brain, which is normally above the heart.

Doubts

While inversion therapy has been around for a long time, there are scientific doubts as to whether it is actually effective. While use of an inversion table may provide some benefits, check with your doctor before using one.
