Styles of Oriental Furniture

There are different types of Oriental furniture, each country having its own style, but they share certain features. Oriental furniture, for example, tends to include black, gold and red, such as black lacquer tables and Japanese-style screens with copious amounts of red. Also, Oriental furniture has modern, sleek lines. Does this Spark an idea?

Platform Beds

Platform beds that showcase Tatami grass mats are popular Japanese furniture items. This type of bed works well in a contemporary or modern room because of its simplicity. These beds are low to the ground, and the bedding is usually white or another neutral color.

Dark Wood

Indonesian furniture tends to be made of teak, as well as dark mahogany. It features excellent craftsmanship, carved with ornate designs. Common furniture items include coffee tables and end tables. Some variations of these are octagonal tables and round pedestal tables, as well as console tables and coffee tables of varying shapes.

Futons

The traditional futon found in Japanese culture is bedding that consists of quilts and mattresses that can be folded up in the morning after sleeping. The common version found in the United States is based on the original but is placed on a metal or wooden frame, and the mattress part tends to be thicker than that of the traditional Japanese version.
