Table Soccer Tricks

Table Soccer Tricks

Table soccer, or foosball, is a table-top simulation of thegame of soccer. Your players are attached to rods that can be moved laterally and rotated to kick the ball. Once you have mastered the basics of table soccer, you can learn some impressive foosball tricks.

Rebound Smash

Perform the rebound smash using the three-player rod, the rod closest to the opposing goal. Hit the ball diagonally against the oppositions back wall using one of your two outer players. The ball will rebound toward your middle player, at which point you can smash the ball into the goal. A little practice makes this move highly effective.

Aerial Shot

The aerial shot is an impressive table soccer trick. First, control the ball using a player on one of your defensive rods. When you have the ball under control, try to lift it using the feet of one player on your first rod and one player on your second rod. The idea is to have the ball caught on the heels of a player held horizontally on your second rod. Once in this position, flip the ball through the air toward the oppositions goal. According to FoosballSoccer.com, this trick shot is illegal in tournament play. However, it is perfect for informal games.

Back Wall Pass

The back wall pass is a relatively simple trick. Using a player on your midfield bar, kick the ball backward toward your own back wall. The ball will then rebound off the wall, returning up the table to the original kicker or to a more advanced player. Be sure to hit the ball with enough power, and be careful not to hit it directly toward your own goal.

Back Wall Shot

The back wall shot is similar to the back wall pass. However, the aim here is to score a goal. Using a player on one of your defensive rods, hit the ball at a slight angle against your own back wall. The ball should rebound off the back wall, travelling back up the table toward the opposing goal. You must hit the ball with power to stand any chance of scoring on a back wall trick shot.

Bank Shot

The bank shot is another shooting trick using the three-player offensive rod. Pin the ball with your middle player. Once the ball is under your control, hit it with power on one side. The ball should fly diagonally toward the side wall, rebounding toward the opposing goal. If struck correctly and with enough power, the bank shot is difficult for the opposing goalie to defend against.

Goalkeeper Shot

According to Foosball.com, the goalkeeper shot, or goalie field goal attempt, is difficult to master but is one of the most impressive table soccer trick shots. Position your goalkeeper with the feet forward, leaving enough space below the player for the ball to pass. Roll the ball under the goalkeeper using one of you defenders. As the ball passes below the goalie, move the feet back to catch the ball against the back wall. The ball should now be resting on the goalkeepers heels. From this position you can flip the ball through the air toward the opposing goal.
