How to Seal a Kitchen Table

If you eat at your kitchen table every day, you will notice how quickly it gets dirty. Washing your kitchen table multiple times a day may be necessary, but it can damage the seal on the table. You can reapply the kitchen table sealant to help keep your table in good working order as long as possible. To seal a kitchen table, work in an outdoor area that's well-ventilated. Make sure there's no rain in the forecast, because your table should sit outside to dry. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    1

Clean your table thoroughly. Remove any food or dust particles by wiping the table down with a soft cloth. Use a warm, soapy rag to clean the table if necessary.

    2

Dilute 1 gallon of wood seal concentrate with 4 gallons of mineral spirits. Check the seal manufacturer's instructions to determine if they are the same.

    3

Mix the seal concentrate thoroughly with the mineral spirits. If you have a mixing blade on your hand drill, use it for best results.

    4

Brush the wood sealer onto your kitchen table, moving in the same direction as the grain of the wood.

    5

Wait 3 hours, and then apply a second coat.

    6

Allow your kitchen table to dry overnight before you use it.
