How to Turn a Kitchen Table Into a Craft Table

How to Turn a Kitchen Table Into a Craft Table

Choose a kitchen table that is made from wood to makeover into a craft table. A glass-topped table won't be sturdy enough for some crafts such as sewing. Kitchen tables make ideal crafting spaces, since they are already designed for seating. They are usually the ideal height for crafts such as painting, sewing and scrapbooking. The generous size of most kitchen tables means you can store multiple items on top and underneath and still have plenty of workspace. Using a high gloss sealer means you will be able to wipe away spills and marks with a baby wipe, keeping your workspace clean. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    1

Wipe down the table with a soft cloth. Use fine grit sandpaper to gently sand the finish of the table. You do not need to sand it a lot, just enough to remove any lingering food oil and residue.

    2

Wipe the table with the tack cloth to pick up any dust or debris dislodged by the sanding. Use the mini roller to apply a coat of the high gloss finish. Let the table dry overnight and apply a second coat of glossy finish.

    3

Use the foam brush to add a layer of glossy finish sealer to the wood yardstick and let dry overnight.

    4

Use super glue to attach the yardstick to the edge of the tabletop along one side.

    5

Move the table to the desired location. Top with your most essential craft supplies and tools.
