Cool Sports Bar Ideas

Cool Sports Bar Ideas

Sports bars provide food, drinks and televised sporting events in a casual atmosphere. The best sports bars use a traditional bar style with a unique twist in the theme. They incorporate new and unusual ideas, such as a helmet shaped bar, to set the establishment apart from other bars. Standing away from the crowd not only creates name recognition, it helps draw in customers bored of the same old sports bar style.

Build a sports bar that offers more than just watching games and playing a few games;construct one that offers customers a smorgasbord of activities. Start with a basic bar set-up, such as a bar, tables, chairs and flat-screen televisions. Install several smaller televisions, provide gaming units and subscribe to a nationwide bar trivia game network.

Keep guests entertained with pool tables, bumper pool tables, foosball tables, shuffleboard tables, air-hockey tables, electronic dart machines, pinball machines, video game machines and prize-grab machines. Make sure to turn the volume down on any electronic games to prevent the noise from drowning out the television. Place tall tables or shelves in the gaming area so that customers have somewhere to place glasses and plates.

Old-Fashion Sports Bar

Take customers back in time and build a sports bar centered on a traditional theme. Install a traditional wood bar, stools, chairs, tables and booths. Add brass fixtures, old fashion ceiling lamps and mirrors painted with classic beer logos. Create a thin wooden trim to frame each flat-screen television like a picture to help keep the traditional theme. Keep obvious pieces of technology hidden, such as stereo speakers or a cash register.

Fill the classic sports bar with an assortment of old-fashion sport items. Use clear, frameless, plastic shadow boxes to protect and display valuable pieces. Decorate with leather football helmets, old boxing gloves, classic tennis rackets, antique golf shoes and retro uniforms. Add framed pictures of historical sports figures and sports memorabilia, such as game tickets, game schedules or player trading cards. Include old-fashion bar activities, such as a cork dartboard or traditional pool table.

Create the ultimate sports-themed bar by taking the idea to the extreme. Start with a floor painted to look like a football field. Add a football helmet-shaped bar sticking out of the wall with a round counter and canopy. Build a round bar that looks like the front of a giant football helmet sticking out from the wall. Build a round canopy above the bar to serve as the upper part of the helmet.

Install the customary televisions, beer signs and other decorations in the sports bar. Use round tables with ball-themed tabletops, such as tennis balls, soccer balls, basketballs, baseballs, volleyballs and golf balls. Use seating with sports-themed shapes, such as a catcher's mitt-shaped chair, stool with baseball bat legs or football-shaped couch.
