Boston features a wide range of bars with pool tables. It is also the city where famous pool player Morton "Boston Shorty'' Goldberg first made a name for himself by beating legends such as Minnesota Fats and Willie Mosconi. These tables can be found in both upscale nightclubs and many neighborhood bars.

Jillian's

    Jillian's is a huge establishment situated behind Fenway Park, which is the home of the Boston Red Sox baseball team. The sprawling facility consists of three floors, two restaurants, seven different bar areas, a bowling alley, dance floors and rooms for private functions and parties. It also has a large room with 30 pool tables and a bar. The popularity of Jillian's results in there is sometimes a wait to get on a table. High-definition and flat-screen TVs are located throughout Jillian's for sports viewing. Celebrities are often spotted in Jillian's, which is open six days a week until 2 a.m. and to midnight on Sundays. Various food and drink specials are offered throughout the week.

Big City

    Big City is a popular bar with pool tables that is located on the western outskirts of Boston in the town of Allston. The bar has 12 championship (full size) pool tables to go along with foosball tables. Another big attraction is 80 different brands of draft beer. Big City promotes what it calls its 3Ps, which a special that consists of a pizza, a pitcher of beer and one hour of pool. The hours at this casual bar are 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Monday through Friday, and on the weekends from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. Other attractions at Big City include brunch on Saturdays and Sunday as well as trivia nights. Big City can accommodate groups and parties.

Beantown Pub

    Cleverly advertising itself as the only place in Boston where you can drink a Sam Adams beer while viewing his grave, the Beantown Pub is in downtown Boston. It has eight tables in its pool room that are operated by coin. The pub also has numerous TVs that provide patrons with the opportunity to watch sports. The Beantown Pub, which has a casual atmosphere and a juke box, features 12 different beers on tap and serves lunch and dinner. Its hamburgers are a particularly popular item on a menu that has full entrees, soups and salads to go along bar food. The Beantown Pub serves food until 1 a.m. and drinks until 2 a.m. Breakfast is also available on the weekend.
